5 November, 2007 The GREGG WRIGHT Newsletter Greetings Friends, Hope all is well with everyone, though I know in today's world that can sometimes seem an awfully tall order! THAT's why there's the BLUES! When we get the Blues, we listen to and /or play the Blues. It soothes our Soul. Somehow, that common thread of understanding of one another's trials, tribulations, pain, sorrow and even triumphs and joy, connects us all. We might feel isolated or broken hearted, but when we experience a great Blues record or a kickin' live Blues band, we laugh that ironic laugh of realizing . . . we are not alone! The great Albert King once said, " Everybody understands the Blues!! "Everybody from one day to another, has the Blues!!" Amen to that! Recently, I had to postpone my U.K. tour (nagging hand injury!), originally scheduled for November. These dates are in the process of being moved to April of ' 08, and further. We'll keep you informed as things develop. Meanwhile . . . have a few pints of that lurvely bitter for me, whilst I'm on the mend! Cheers, loove! Next, we are nearing completion of the new CD. I've got some truly great talent appearing on this new record with me . . . the great Leon Abner on drums, the fantastic Ron Battle on Bass, the multi-talented Jimmy Z on sax & harp, baad, baad Munyungo Jackson on percussion and my main Blues Brutha, Zac Harmon sits in on guitar, to trade riffs with me on a coupla songs. There are a few more surprise guests on this one so . . . stay tuned!! In the meantime, I hope to see all "y'all" when we come to Eddie B's in Sunset, LA on Friday Dec. 7th, and Phil Brady's in Baton Rouge, LA, Saturday Dec. 8th. Get ready for some ass-kickin', gumbo fuelled "Rockin' Blues!" *On a special note; I'll be doing a guitar clinic and music industry seminar at Baton Rouge's Live Music, 10244 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Thursday Dec. 6th. I'll be talking about "The State of the Music Industry and The Musician's Place In It," and why today is the best time ever, to be a working musician. Of course, I'll be demonstrating and explaining of some of my favorite guitar techniques, along with a question and answer session. Call for time & schedule: (225) 275-6633 Well, that about does it for this month. Many thanks for your support. Lots of love to everyone, and take good care of yourselves and one another. We'll see you soon. Musically, Bluesically yours, Gregg |
